Mayonaka no Occult Koumuin (真夜中のオカルト公務員(まよなかのオカルトこうむいん), Mayonaka no Okaruto Kōmuin) anime television series adaptation was announced on June 21, 2018.[1] The series was directed by Tetsuya Watanabe and written by Tatsuto Higuchi, with animation by studio Liden Films. Eriko Itō is designing the characters. The series premiered on April 7, 2019 on Tokyo MX, SUN, BS11, KBS, and TVA. Fukuyama Jun performed the series' opening theme song "Dis-communicate", while Toki Shunichi will perform the series' ending theme song "Yakusoku no Overture". An original animation DVD is scheduled to be released in November 22, 2019, bundled with the 12th manga volume.

Summary[]

Miyako is a new government worker assigned to the Shinjuku Ward Office's "Nighttime Regional Relations" department. Each of Tokyo's 23 wards has one such department, which were established to solve paranormal and occult-related events. Arata can understand non-human speech that no one else understands, and he encounters a yōkai (supernatural entity) at Shinjuku Gyoen park that calls him Abe no Seimei — the name of a historical Japanese occultist and diviner.[2]

Briefly after loosing his consciousness in front of the elder tengu, Arata dreams of his grandfather who told him about their descendant, Abe no Seimei. He wakes up not long after inside the office of the Shinjuku Ward Nocturnal Community Relations Division.

Kyoichi scolds Arata after naively touching a magic circle which is actually a ritual for Kyoushi. They found themselves underground in the Hakoneyama where World War 2 corpses were stored while an Another was floating behind them, he called Arata Seimei.

Arata wakes up with Kohaku in his house, wearing a ladies clothing. He started to ask Kohaku about Abe no Seimei to which the latter gladly answers. In the Shinjuku Ward Nocturnal Community Relation, Kyoichi, Seo and Arata were tasked to observe the temporary dwellers in Kabukicho.

An anothers case involving dreams according to Aida, a Shinjuku Ward, City Hall staff. When asked Arata was tasked to hear her story, Aida recounted of what happened to her youngest son Ryo who have been telling her of his nightmare which turned to worse after he fell into coma, unable to wake up.

He who wanted to solved problems using his skills was under the dilemma as they went to different site, the stadium.
